Direct From Sweden - The Music of ABBA Long Beach Concert reviews
Don't waste your money.....enjoy them on ITunes
I was totally excited to see The Music of ABBA - Direct From Sweden......I ADORE their music. However, what I was NOT ready for was the seemingly endless wait for them to appear on stage.
The opening band (I can't recall their names) performed until nearly 9. Then came the lights and the waiting began...and continued...and continued. At 9:50 ON A SUNDAY NIGHT, the audience grew impatient and started loudly booing. This led the staff to turn off the lights as if they were about to begin.....after another 15 minutes of waiting, they finally made their entrance. Instead of starting with the music (which we deserved at that point), Scott Weiland began lecturing the crowd about how we are unaware of his life and should refrain from posting about it online. He went on and on unclearly, at times the band tried to drown him out by playing over him.
The show eventually got underway. During the musical performances, it was fantastic. Wonderful music; skilled musicians. However, on numerous occasions Scott halted the song prematurely and resumed his rambling.
I left feeling let down. I attend many shows and I hoped that The Music of ABBA - Direct From Sweden would have behaved like skilled musicians. It's always disheartening to witness someone with such potential mess everything up due to consistent issues.
I also hoped that Cynthia Woods staff would have made some form of announcement or informed us about the delay. By leaving us in the dark, many people departed not knowing if The Music of ABBA - Direct From Sweden would ever arrive. I myself contemplated leaving because of work the next morning; thankfully I stayed, but I'm aware that many others left and didn't get their money's worth.
